Uvesafb - strange behaviour

Hello althogether... just set up uvesafb on my machine and have some strange problems...

While booting my screen blanks out and says "signal not found". A common problem for my monitor, but i thought uvesafb maybe handles it better than vga=xxx.

anyway... blindly i type startx, which starts X of course. Now when i end X again, uvesafb is there in all its beauty...

any explanation or hints how to make it appear instantly? cause having to run X before is kinda useless smile
