I'm trying to use tsocks to redirect rtorrent to use a remote ssh box. But the tsocks performance is very bad for me it seems. For example if I set the Firefox preferences to use the SOCKS host directly, I can visit websites with no problems, very snappy performance. But if I start firefox using "tsocks firefox", the speed goes down a lot. In rtorrent, I can't get speeds over 3 KB/s, but if I use uTorrent in Windows using the SOCKS host, I easily get 200 KB/s.
Does anyone have any suggestions to find the cause of this problem?
This is my tsocks.conf file by the way:
server = 127.0.0.1
server_port = 7777
server_type = 4To connect to the ssh box, I use this command:
sudo user@sshhost -p 443 -D 7777Offline
I'm having the same problem. Have you found a solution?

I haven't needed tsocks in a long time, so no, can't help you I'm afraid.

I have the same problem and the fix was simple, tsocks won't work with port less than 10000 (I don't know why!) so just set ssh port to some thing more than 10000
