treo 755 sync

Hey folks...

Ok so I'm trying to get my 755 treo to sync to my arch laptop.  Dmesg sees it and loads the corect software:

usb 1-2: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 2

and lsusb sees the device:

Still getting used to the linux waters so from a troubleshooting standpoint I see a couple things... one it's loading the software, two the computer sees the device.  Something in the way the device is talking to the computer is not being recognized... Any advice?  I want to learn how to troubleshoot this, so specifically any advice to that effect would be great!
