I'm trying to activate my rt61 card and I forgot how I did it last time. Now searching for documentation I got confused as there are many articles saying different things and I'm not sure what's obsolete.
What is the suggested way to activate wireless (rt61) in archlinux?

As far as i know, rt61 drivers are in-tree drivers now.
Try
# modprobe rt61pciStand back, intruder, or i'll blast you out of space! I am Klixon and I don't want any dealings with you human lifeforms. I'm a cyborg!

Make sure you have the rt2x00-rt61-fw fimware package installed.

I've found the packages. Thanks for the hint.
Which is the suggested way to set up WPA?
I used to have wpa_supplicant but can't find that tutorial anymore.
I found your scripts, klixon, but not sure if other ways are more appropriate now.
I'll have to dig through the tutorials, but not sure which one.
Which way do you recommend to setup up WPA with archlinux automatically?

netcfg works like a charm for setting up wireless, it automatically creates the wpa_supplicant configuration using the information you provide it.

My aur thingy is quite obsolete by now... thanks for reminding me about it, it should be deleted ![]()
I'm not using wireless anymore, but as whiteMagic said, try netcfg, or, if you're feeling adventurous (or helpfull by also debugging) try netcfg2. I think netcfg2 is becoming quite stable and has some enhanced support for wireless thingies if i remember correctly (Iphitus, correct me if i'm wrong)

You're definitely not using wireless - netcfg2 has already replaced netcfg. Happened a while ago, actually. ![]()

netcfg2 and net-profiles worked awesome for my wpa encryption. Only distro I've been able to use wpa successfully with.
Just follow the wiki ![]()
