php problems... [solved]

I'm doing a test moodle installation. I've followed the arch wiki LAMP install guide; all good. I've followed the instructions on the moodle site. But when I try to run the install.php I get this error:

Call to undefined function session_name()

My only results from searching give the solution - make sure extension=session.so is in /etc/php/php.ini. I've checked that, and I've got it (and it's not commented out!). I've also tried uninstalling and re-installing everything (except Arch itself...). So I can't imagine why I'm getting this error. Can anybody help?

Thanks.

[update]
okay, so I've fixed it. Just for the record: it wasn't working when I re-installed php because I failed to restart the httpd daemon. What was breaking it, was when I edited a setting in php.ini (needed for moodle), nano pushed the end of a comment line onto a new line, which presumably broke the rest of the settings. Making sure that the comment stayed on one line makes it work.
