Hey .. . I've recently upgraded to using iwl3945 over ipw3945, as I was told the latter was obsolete.
I immediately noticed a change in behavior, however the 'connectivity' was always just as good as while running ipw3945. Problem is, after upgrading to kernel 2.6.25, I'm considerably choppier performance, random disconnects and weird association behavior.
Does anyone else experience choppy behavior/performance running iwl3945 from 2.6.25 ?
The webs do report on a few bugs but nothing seems very specific. This a very widely used driver as I understand it, so I'd think if it really were that bad, it would be for many people. ..
help?

I do notice problems associating. I have to run my daemon twice before it will connect:
cat /etc/rc.d/wireless_connect
#!/bin/bash
#
# Daemon to automatically connect to wireless network during boot
#
dhcpcd -x wlan0
ifconfig wlan0 up
iwconfig wlan0 essid "yyyy" key "xxxx"
dhcpcd wlan0
It used to work before .25
Didn't try anything else or looked into it yet...

I had a similiar problem with an intel 4965 on my laptop. After upgrading to 2.6.25 it started out as my computer getting very choppy performance and eventually freezing up (only happened in X though) completely whenever I turned the wireless card on (toshiba laptop) after some googling I tried installing the compat-wireless package from AUR and that solved the problem for me. Not sure if its exactly the same issue, but maybe it can get you on the right track?

I got the same problem as ibendiben. I solved it with a script as well and I embedded it in a network profile so I can still start my network from the netcfg-menu on boot.
arch(3) adj amused because you think you understand something better than other people ;P
