Firefox's mimetype broken??

Hi, all!
I'm troubled with a problem, that's when I try to open a file in firefox(not save, just open). Firefox can get the associated application but just can't work. It says:"XXXX can't be open, because the associated helper applicaion doesn't not exists." What does this mean??
Thanks a lot!:)

Re: Firefox's mimetype broken??

Search the forums because there have been quite a few threads posted lately about broken mime-types.  I'm sure one of them will help you get this solved.

Re: Firefox's mimetype broken??

actualy the broken mimetype in firefox isn't related with shared-mime-info. i didn't upgrade it and firefox doens't want to open rar archive even is associated. is says in the open box File-arhive and then when i want to open It says:"XXXX can't be open, because the associated helper applicaion doesn't not exists." but with other types of arhive is working.  i tested with pdf file type and was workig too.
if ff2 was working flawless

Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

Re: Firefox's mimetype broken??

Check the firefox bug tracker.  Maybe someone has posted a patch or a workaround.

Thank you very much! But I failed again after following the instructions in that thread.
This time, it's even worse: firefox can't get the associated application:(
