I ran 'ssh -X alex@192.168.1.107' on my laptop and got onto my desktop fine, but when I try running something like Firefox I get the error "cannot open display: arch:10.0". In /etc/ssh/sshd_config X11Forwarding is set to 'yes'. The machine I'm running ssh -X on is running BasicLinux, and the machine that I'm accessing is running Arch.
Thanks!

I think you want 'localhost' in place of 'arch', unless 'arch' is in your /etc/hosts file as an alias for localhost

'arch' is set as the alias for localhost. I never entered 'arch' anyway, that's just what the error said.
e: I tried ssh-ing into a X session on another laptop running an Ubuntu live CD. I can ssh into it normally, but when I run 'xinit -e ssh -XCT ubuntu@192.168.1.106 gnome-session -- :1' it just starts a new X session on ctrl+alt+F8 using my startx file, rather than the one on the other computer.
