Hello,
I use KDE4.1 with hal installed. And when I put in a cd or dvd it's visible in the 'devices recently plugged in' menu...
But when I click on it it'll only mount it if it is a dvd. If it is a cdrom, it tries to mount it as a dvd.. :S
My fstab
/dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom iso9660 ro,user,noauto,unhide 0 0
/dev/dvd /mnt/dvd udf ro,user,noauto,unhide 0 0
/dev/sr0 /mnt/dvd udf ro,user,noauto,unhide 0 0 # I had to add this line to get dvd's working..
Does someone know why kde4.1/hal is always using /dev/sr0 insteed of /dev/cdrom ?
Even if I do this on the commandline:
mount /dev/cdrom I get a message with 'wrong fs type'.. :+
So how do I get this working ?
Thanks

/dev/sr0 is the optical device /dev/dvd and /dev/cdrom are symlinks to it.
Have you tried commenting all lines about cdrom and dvd in fstab?
Then see if it works i know that hal can be quite picky sometimes if things are specified in fstab

Just asking: You're not trying to mount an audio CD, are you?
Haven't been here in a while. Still rocking Arch.

No, it's a videocd.
INCSlayer, I can try that.

I was having the same problem - I assumed my drive was dodgy, but commenting out the entries in fstab worked for me
Thanks guys
