Conky and maximized windows

I currently have Conky set up to display battery data, time, and other stuff that I want to always be visible. What hints can I use to prevent other windows from maximizing over conky's window?

Re: Conky and maximized windows

I think it's supposed to be
own_window_hints above,sticky,skip_taskbar
or something like that. I am not 100% sure.

I have that in my .conkyrc, and awesomeWM still puts windows above it.

i don't know you that well.

Re: Conky and maximized windows

In openbox you can define the usable space with margins. That way my conky-bar is always visible.

Zl.

Re: Conky and maximized windows

As far as I know, conky can't set partial struts. But as zenlord mentioned you can set margins in openbox, xmonad and possibly other WMs.

Re: Conky and maximized windows

I am using Compiz-fusion as a standalone WM. Is there a way to ask compiz to reserve some space, like 25 pixel (the height of my conky) on the top of the desktop? In fact, I know it must be possible, since panels do it. But it can't be done just with the "windows rules" plugin from compiz.
