rtl8187 problems (wifi)

I'm using an Advent 4211 (a rebranded version of the MSI Wind), and I am using kernel 2.6.25-ARCH.

When I type:

zcat /proc/config.gz | grep CONFIG_RTL8187

I receive the following:

CONFIG_RTL8187=m

I then proceed and type:

modprobe rtl8187

I then type:

dmesg | grep rtl8187

And as in the guide, the following appears:

usbcore: registered new interface driver rtl8187

However on typing:

ifconfig wlan0 up

it returns:

wlan0: unknown interface: No such device

Could anyone help me find a solution to this, if any more information is required I will give it to you.
