Setup a gateway.

I want to share my one internet connection amoung my 2 linux and 1 windows system. Right now i am using the internet connection on only one linux system as setup by my internet provider.
I asked my friend what all devices is requires to setup the network and he said i need a switch and have to make my linux system on which the net is connected as a gateway, and connect the other systems with the switch. But i have no clue how to do that.
What all packages i have to install, and is there any howto that i can refer to.
