[SOLVED] Wireless Issues.

Hello!  I installed arch onto a laptop I have and I can't seem to get my wireless card to work.  It's a Marvell card and here is what lspci shows:

08:00.0 Ethernet controller: Marvell Technology Group Ltd. Unknown device 2a08 (rev 03)

I've followed the wiki and I've done alot of google searches, and I haven't had much luck finding any information that has worked for me.  If anyone has any guidance they can offer, that would be great.

Also the laptop is a Gateway M-1618.

Re: [SOLVED] Wireless Issues.

Just google with 2a08 instead of 1618 wink

Run "update-pciids" to maybe fix the "unknown device".

Re: [SOLVED] Wireless Issues.

Alright, thank you.  The 2a08 search yeilded alot more results.  Though the update-pciids didn't get rid of the unknown device.  Should I have mentioned that I'm running 64bit?

Thanks again.

Re: [SOLVED] Wireless Issues.

Ok, after searching around the net and finding:

http://ge.ubuntuforums.com/showthread.p … a&t=575785

It turns out that apparently no one has gotten this driver to work with ndiswrapper on 64bit.  The only results I see are from people on a 32bit system.  Anyone have any information on this?

Re: [SOLVED] Wireless Issues.

Well.  I've made it quite far.  I installed the 32bit version of Arch, and the drivers for my card work under ndiswrapper.

The problem I am having now is that I can't seem to get dhcpcd up and going, it just times out.  I can't even get my wired connection on eth0 up anymore.  I'm not even sure why.  It just times out like the wlan0.  The computer I'm on now (arch install) connects to my router fine via wired connection.

EDIT:

Fixed it.  How?  I reinstalled Arch from the install disc.  Something makes me think that doing all of this after updating the system was why it wasn't working.  Weird?
