Unable to access some sites after kernel upgrade

Guday all, new user to arch here. I installed kernel 2.6.27-2 the other day and everything seemed fine initially. After some use however, I noticed that a couple of sites weren't connection for me anymore, and the others were loading a lot more slowly than usual. I know that it was the kernel package that caused this as downgrading fixed the problems. It wasn't browser specific as I tried Opera,FF,Konq.,Lynx and wget on the sites. The sites which didn't load were:

http://my.opera.com/: Interestingly the browser received a 302 redirect to my.opera.com/community, but then never loaded the page. Wget said /community returned a 200 (OK) header, but then hung on the actual content download.
http://alliance.anu.edu.au/: No go at all.

I tried disabling the ipv6 kernel module, but no luck with that. Also, like I said, general browsing slowed down (time to connect and load increased). Just a heads up to anyone experiencing the same problem. I've got the older .25 kernel package if anyone needs it.
