Hi,
After a long time of uneventful service Wi-Fi started giving me trouble. Configuration always the same: RTL8187B, ndiswrapper, wicd. After boot it works normally from 5 minutes to 2 hours, then disconnects. No reconnection is possible, the wireless network is first wisible, then disappears; after reboot the cycle repeats itself.
Since reboot helps, I'd like to know whether it is possible to restart the network things without rebooting. I played with starting/stopping/restarting network and wicd daemons, without success.

To reset it, disconnect, stop any relevant services, remove (rmmod) and reload the driver (modprobe), then reconnect.
Alternatively, find out why it's dropping out. Check dmesg for any messages, and file a bug with the relevant developer

Experimenting as suggested, I determined that wicd is the source of trouble. Clean reinstall (wicd-1.5.3-1; removing /etc/wicd directory first) helped. Probably, incorrect upgrade form wicd-1.5.1-3 to wicd-1.5.3-1. It doesn't merit a bug report, I believe.
...
Probably, irrelevant. Anyway, 2.6.27.4 kernel supports RTL8187B chip trouble free, at last.
