Conky help

So I got conky installed and running by following the wiki on it.  The wiki needs some help however IMO, because the part about kdesktop integration does not say whether you need to be adding the files/scripts from root or from user, and as someone somewhat new, I had no idea, i did figure out it was as user though.

Now, for my questions.  I used one of the config files from the link, and only changed what it has in the wiki for kdesktop integration.

Problem 1 - The temp section of my monitor does not work, it shows 0C.  I figured this was because lm_sensors was not setup, which I was right, it was not setup, but now that it is setup, it is still not working.  Here is the line that displays the temps:

 CPU:$color ${i2c temp 2}C${color grey} - MB:$color ${i2c temp 1}C

Which displays as '0c' and '0c' on the output.  Here is the output of the command 'sensors' in console, incase it helps:

coretemp-isa-0003

Core 3: +44.0°C (high = +76.0°C, crit = +100.0°C)

Problem 2 - There is a line that says 'MPD not responding' right above where it shows my running applications and mem usage.  What is MPD?  Why is it not responding?

Problem 3 - I have installed a different wallpaper than the default kdemod4 one.  Whenever my comp starts up and in in the k login screen, it still shows the original wallpaper, however, when I log in, it switches to the wallpaper I installed, which is fine with me, and seems somewhat normal.  However, once conky gets up and running (i put the script to start it in ~/.kde4/share/autostart/fehconky) it is still showing the original wallpaper as its background, not my new one, for the psuedotransperency.

Lastly, does anyone have a good resource or a link where I can read about the configuration of conky a little more.  i want to customize it further, but don't know what all the code for the config file should look like and what all can really be done with it.

thanks

You're not using the i2c driver. You'll need to update the {i2c temp X} parts to the appropriate variable.

Re: Conky help

thanks, got the sensor output working using this

CPU:$color ${platform it87.656 temp 3}

however, for some reason, after finishing the editing of the file and getting it all working, the script no longer works...it works fine if i just launch from terminal by typing 'conky' but the feh script that i put in ~/.kde4/share/autostart/fehconky no longer works, any ideas?

Also, i found out that MPD is music player daemon, something for watching what music your playing, i took that part out for now, so or worries there, but the other questions are still valid, as well as the extra script question...thanks

Re: Conky help

what about a guide for just general conky setup?  I've seen the variable lists for the display, but im talking about all the options before the TEXT.

thanks
