SATA performance problems

Hi,
I'm having problems with my SATA drives. They both are in a RAID0 and this RAID is in a logical volume of LVM (I followed the wiki on raid and lvm2). However, I have a poor performance on my AMD Sempron LE-1150 (Single Core with 2000MHz, 64bit), I only get about 30MB/s when writing and 110MB/s when reading. The mainboard has an Nvidia Geforce 8200 Chipset. Compared to my desktop PC (AMD Phenom 9950), these things are different when benchmarking with bonnie++:
- user cpu load is much lower on the server
- system load is MUCH higher on the server
- server has much more soft interrupts on the server in top
- idle is much higher on the desktop, as 2 two of the cores do nothing

Below are my results with bonnie++. The server is to be an ftp server with Gigabit access. With ubuntu server, no lvm, a different mainboard and a faster processor, there was no problem with the speed, so the harddrives are working.

Does anybody have an idea what my problem is?

bonnie++'s output for the server:

Version 1.03b ------Sequential Output------ --Sequential Input- --Random-

And the desktop:

I'm not to creative when it comes to names... smile

EDIT: Reading speed is perfect. When downloading something from the ftp (it's vsftpd, btw), the server only has about 70% load and sends at full speed, as you can also see from the bonnie++ table. The HDDs in desktop and server are similiar (all Seagate) and the server is about twice as fast as the desktop. So absolutely no complains about that.
