grub(2): why?

Hi,

Reading the Wiki article about LVM, I discovered the existence of grub2 smile . Also I discovered that the only grub I've known so far is 'legacy'... I tried yaourt -Ss and learned there's indeed aur/grub2 1.96-1. Why this 'mainstream' grub2 is so obscure it even hasn't made way into official repositories? What are the reasons to/not to use it?

That should give you an idea.  Whether you want to use the new grub is up to you. smile
