USB 2.0 drive shuts down highmem

When booting with the USB 2.0 drive connected and energized (external powered) the highmem 4G capability is not enabled (examined in dmesg).

Without the USB connected, the highmem is present in dmesg.

Any help is appreciated.

I believe the memory arrangement was 512, 1G, and 512 in the three slots for ddram in a7v333 mobo.

The same problem was experienced with USB enabled (hard drive connected and running in external fixture) while using three 512MB sticks.

I suspect the problem was introduced by a recent pkg upgrade but don't know which package would affect the performance of highmem and usb2.0 combination. The highmem enabled in 2.6.7 is 4G as I understand it.

I did not record the recent upgrade packages, recent being the last week to ten days.

I hope this helps to bring me to a better understanding of the problem.

The next file presented here is fstab: Perhaps entries are incorrect or entries are missing to cause the loss of highmem with the connection of USB HDD as indicated in the previous posting showing multi-printouts regarding usb storage.
