[SOLVED-partly] Broadcom-wl setting up with WPA2

My desktop has a Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4328 802.11a/b/g/n (rev 03) and I've installed the broadcom-wl from AUR and added wl & ieee80211_crypt_tkip to MODULES in rc.conf. Now I want to set the card up with WPA2 but how do I do that? With Wicd or wpa_supplicant I can't find the wl driver on the list of supported cards. What is the best way to get WPA2 working with the wl driver?

Now, I did manage to connect to my wireless network just now using the wext driver in Wicd. But I had to turn of WPA2 and make my essid visible. Even when WPA2 was shut off I still couldn't connect to the network because the essid was hidden. Wicd could see the hidden network but would not let me connect (unable to obtain an IP-address). So is there a good way to add the essid to the network profile, in order to be sure that Wicd sees it?

You should use wext, since it is the general driver, however there is a broadcom driver for wpa_supplicant, but it is turned off in the Arch version, don't know why...
Near the Network menu, there is a down arrow, there you can connect to a hidden network, if you know the essid, but it didn't work for me.

Well, I can log on to my wireless network with the wext driver and WPA2 if the ESSID is broadcast. If it is hidden it can find the network and the ESSID but getting an IP address fails. So this is partly solved now.

It depends on the card. I can do it just fine with my Intel 2100, but my D-Link DWA-130 won't, even using the same settings. I don't know if it's a driver limitation, or what.

Some cards/drivers will not play well with hidden networks, if you own the router/AP just make the network visible. As far as I know not broadcasting the ESSID is the lamest protection of all as if you are using the wireless network anyone that wants to will know there is an access point there.

I did it with BCM4311.

Just foolowed wicd WIKI, including item about hidden SSID hack (it didn't help).

On the WICD interface (small arrow near Network button) choose Hidden Network, click it, then add SSID of your AP.

After that, click Connect on your hidden AP button.

Close interface, reopen it.

Now you see your hidden AP with its real SSID.

Click Connect once again.

That's how it worked for me.

Still, Wi-Fi is the pain under Linux.
