USB 25-in-1 card reader problem

I just connected a card reader to my MBO USB port and it doesn't seem to work quite at all. I connect a card but nothing happens. Should I load some special modules for that to work? What do these errors in dmesg mean? Any help?
Here's some hopefully useful information:

Looks like its not connected properly

Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub

That is how mine shows up...

You got it wired up correctly on motherboard?

Hmm, I'm pretty sure, I'll double-check, and try it out on another machine, to see if the reader itself isn't broken...

Yup there is trouble alright, check the cable and try connecting the hub to a port on the motherboard, not one on your case (sometimes things don't work so well when connected to the case usb ports)
