[SOLVED] can't play any multimedia file, fresh install msi wind
hi! i have now a pretty much working system i installed mplayer and alsa, and have a working xorg, i configured alsa with alsaconf and it says that the card was found and i can now change levels with alsamixer the thing is that everytime a want to play a media file, say an mp3, avi, mpg, every kind of media file, mplayer says "Starting playback..." and the do nothing, i tryed vlc too, it shows the position bar like its playing but nothiing happends and then if you want to close it the only way to stop them is via htop, not even a sudo killall mplayer/vlc do the trick, dont know if its a misconfiguration or a alsa/kernel bug, and i think that i have so less controls in alsamixer/amixer, because i don't have a mic audio level for example, i only have a "mono" Master and PC Speaker

A few days ago, x264 was updated through pacman. Ever since that update I have been unable to watch video over the web. VLC won't generate sound. Flash video freezes firefox and opera. Here are some links to threads about it (also a link to the bug page where it has been assigned for a fix.). Maybe this is what is causing your problem as well??

I think this is only an issue with x264 updated package, but i have this problem with any media file 
including youtube and every sound app

lol, after tryed everything... i reboot solved all the problems, windows come to my mind
