I have a computer which runs into my stereo, running Arch and MPD. I need to be able to access it from a windows computer, what's the best way to get the Windows machine to talk to Linux and control MPD?

Here, three windows mpd clients, found by going to the MPD wiki:
Ario
QMPDClient and
QtMPC.
Although I think that, in this case, haxit's response was quite appropriate.
Thanks for pointing that out, haxit

Or... you could set up an Icecast stream with MPD and just play with http://youripadress/yourstream.ogg in your favorite player. Use putty + ssh to access your PC to control ncmpc playlists etc.
