Hi, i just installed arch linux to my eee pc 900 using http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ins … sus_EEE_PC . Anyways, i did everything the guide told me and now i have a fluxbox without any additional software. But i think there is a problem. X is very slow according to other distros and i believe fluxbox should be much faster then gnome, kde vs.
i open a terminal and execute top to see what the problem is and for example while i drag a window cpu usage jumps up to %40. i think there is a problem. I also tried this with just X (without any enviroment like fluxbox) and the result is the same. I prefered arch because i wanted a faster system. plz help me to solve the problem. Thanks

Things that might slow it down:
- xcompmgr
- ANY transparency
- 'Update contents while drag' option for windows
Also, what program(s) is/are taking up so much CPU? I'd assume that it's fluxbox, but it might be something else.
urxvtc / wmii / zsh / configs / onebluecat.net
Arch will not hold your hand

Are you loading any programs during startup? maybe using the autostart in fluxbox?
There's no such thing as a stupid question, but there sure are a lot of inquisitive idiots !

also check that you have
session.screen0.opaqueMove false
in your .fluxbox/init this will probably help a bit if it is currently true,

It always takes longer than you expect, even when you take into account Hofstadter's Law.

I solved the problem. It was about cpufreq app. which set my cpu speed to 133 MHz. Everytime i startup, i use the command cpufreq-set -g performance and now it runs without any problem. Thanks for your time.
