Archlinux wallpapers

Hi,
I've just created a nice, Arch-themed wallpaper: http://www.xfce-look.org/content/show.php?content=98607

I was just playing with GIMP, and accidentially created something like this. So I played with colors some more, add Arch logo, and viola! big_smile

I hope, you'll like it. smile
A kind of "thank you" to all the people that helped me on the forums, and to all the people who has provided me a fully featured operating system big_smile

Nice, but the logo seems not very good.

Re: Archlinux wallpapers

Well... I tried over ten different methods of mixing the logo with background, and liked this one the most. Or perhaps the "Archlinux" text is missing? I thought that a simple form would fit here the most

Nice! How about reducing the opacity of the white glow to something not so eye poking - say 25-50%. Just a thought..
I like it as-is, though I prefer a bit more sentimental stuff for my own use. Carry on playing wink

Good idea - I've just updated it. A smaller and more transparent glow looks much better smile.

Re: Archlinux wallpapers

Could you post a distro agnostic one - no arch logo? I like this one but I also like the underlying wallpaper too and will probably use it on some non-Arch systems. Not a big deal but it would be cool. Good work! smile

Re: Archlinux wallpapers

A new one - "crystal Arch".
Still needs some polishing, but I'm using it currently as a wallpaper, and it's ok big_smile

Only the 30 minutes rendering time is killing me...

www.blender.org smile.

It's a simple model, a single Bezier curve with a surface behind this. Currently I'm playing with the lighting and the material properties, but it tooks a lot of time, to see the changes big_smile.

If anyone is interested I may send a .blend file

Re: Archlinux wallpapers

For those who liked the 3D wallaper - the less saturated version:
tMWhtbQ

It took over 44 minuter to render this big_smile. Therefore I keep experimenting with materials at night: change, start render, go to sleep, wake up, check results... facepalm, repeat big_smile

Re: Archlinux wallpapers

I've recently learned how to use photons in Blender big_smile.

Here's the result:
tMWowag
This one took almost 10 hours to render... tongue. No I know why graphic artists prefer to draw such things themselves, instead of rendering them big_smile

BTW: I got such message on omploader: "Omploader Recommends Windows Vista™" ?

Say the exact resolution you want, and I'll look for the .blend file... smile

Re: Archlinux wallpapers

How about 16:9 1080p resolution... say 1920x1080 ? I know like...14 hours to render or something...but it would look freaking awesome and should scale down as well.

Re: Archlinux wallpapers

+1 Quimax, I could also use a 1920X1080. It would be lovely. big_smile

I have never used Blender, but perhaps if you shared the .blend file other people could render it. Would it be realitvely simple for some one who has no experience with Blender to render a image with a .blend file?

Re: Archlinux wallpapers

Devastator, if it's not too much trouble I'd love to get the .blend file so I could render myself a 1440x900 version. I don't want to be tying up your system.
