Hi, I've reinstalled arch on my Acer Aspire One..During the installation I didn't checked all the packages...Only a few which I use oftenly...Maybe I missed something? Esp. the wireless...:( I've already installed wireless-tools and added ath5k on my rc.conf..

On last month i've a lot of issues with wireless minipci card, and i solved the issues using madwifi drivers.
Look for madwifi package, unload ath5k, and do an : #modprobe ath_pci and to show wireless devices: #iwconfig -a

yep.... setting ath5k as !ath5k can be a real help. just got my card running. it seems that for the atheros chip cards/devices if you use ath5k (along with the rest of i expect, by itself?) the card shows up with ifconfig AS wlan0 and not ath0
something like that though concept to fix is same whatever.
read all the wireless related wiki pages 3 main ones
newer cards may well use ath5k though and who know there may be a tip for using ath5k....

just some side-note (even if the problem is already fixed):
if you use the madwifi driver your interface name is ath0
if you use ath5k or ath9k your interface will be named wlan0
that only applies if you don't mess around with udev (since then you can give your interfaces real funny names... which is not what you want)

I thought ath5k WAS madwifi so that's very helpful... yes, I noticed that if the 3 modules for madwifi were in the modules line of rc.conf AND the ath5k was there too iwconfig said my interface was wlan0 ... comment out the ath5k and it was ath0 ... I my recall and typing here is accurate.
thank you fo that!
this old phillips pcmcia card only does anything with the 3 from madwifi the "ath_pci" "hal" and..um, the other one... :--)
