Moving from Ubuntu to Archlinux
If I want to install Archlinux over ubuntu will it be possible to keep my /home files. I have my /home folder in another partition which is mounted as /home on the install of ubuntu. I was wondering if I could keep this in archlinux so it'll be much easier to migrate.
any suggestions?

Of course. Just make sure you tell the installer that that's your home folder.

Just one other question, I've never installed through USB can you tell me how to, I'm downloading the .img as we speak

Just one other question, I've never installed through USB can you tell me how to, I'm downloading the .img as we speak
You might want to try using the Iso CD for simplicity sake.
If you insist on using the USB, check the instructions here

It is a two step process. Just remember to not create a filesystem when mounting /home under /.
Arch Linux + sway
Debian Testing + GNOME/sway

USB isn't hard at all. One dd command and it's done, if you can boot from USB.

During the setup, make sure that you do not reformat your home partition or you will lose everything on it.

Exactly.

And on that note (not that I'm sure you need anyone to tell you), make sure you've backed up any files you need anyway. DVD's and USB thumb drives are cheap compared to the cost of lost data because you misunderstood something in the install.
