Hi,
I have setup a ftp server using vsftpd by following the guide in wiki (using the "Without xinetd (simpler)" method).
By connecting to the ftp server from clients in same network(LAN) and everything seem to works fine...
but when I connect from the outside(Internet) It said:
WinSock 2.0 -- OpenSSL 0.9.8g 19 Oct 2007
[R] Connecting to my.homeip.net -> DNS=my.homeip.net IP=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx PORT=21
[R] Connection failed (Connection timed out)
[R] Delaying for 120 seconds before reconnect attempt #1
I'm already forwarded the port 21 to the server and added "vsftpd: ALL" to hosts.allow file.
Any idea?:/
Thanks in advanced,
xcession.

Are you behind a firewall? And if so how is it configured?
One possibility is that the firewall has port 20 and 21 open but the ftp-client is set to passive mode, which usually is recommended. Passive mode does however depend on some extra settings both in vsftpd.conf and the firewall since it means it's not strictly only working against port 20 and 21. Test to set the client to active mode and see if that works.

I've found what's cause the problem... there's service filters in my router beside the firewall...
All I need to do is to turn FTP connections filter off.
Thanks for the reply...
