Hi I just reinstalled arch from 6.2008 to 2.2009. I have been using arch for about a month with no problems. I used to have this problem awhile back but after connecting the modem to the router then reinstalling arch 6.2008 this was never again a problem. Tonight I decided to reformat and install 2.2009. Everything was successful but when I would boot from it after installation it would continue to tell me that eth1 was timed out.
I have not changed anything except my arch version. I think that this may be a bug. I am not sure and I would like to try anything to get it to work before reporting a bug. Like I said..this was not an issue with my previous 6.2008 installation. Any Ideas? I am in windows atm. Also note that I have double checked rc.conf and everything is fine.
eth1="dhcp"
(interfaces)eth1
gateway="dhcp"

btw the is no differences of packages between 2008.06 and 2009.02. that versions are for installers only. if you didn't know until now archlinux is a rolling release distributions.

Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

Well I never had to do all that before...
::Update::
Followed wiki exactly. The network is still timing out. I have other pc's running on the network just fine with internet access. Also when I boot into windows (which is on th same machine as arch) internet works fine.

Have you tried using eth0 instead of eth1?

eth0 is the integrated ethernet port of the motherboard and is not detected by Arch Linux.

I'm getting the same problem after using the new installer on a computer. I had Arch on this computer before and everything worked fine.

At least someone else has the same issue as me.
