Arch and 701 Eee PC and cant connect to wireless router :<

Ok, I have an eeepc 701, I have a wireless router 802.11g router and i cant seem to get arch to connect. If i run any version of ubuntu or its many offspring i can connect via the network manager tools. I dont want to run ubuntu, i want arch, for some reason no matter what i do after the arch install, i cant seem to connect to the wireless. I use a WPA key but as far as i know thats ok. I have tried to use netcfg and i have tried the wpa_supplicant but i am not sure what i am doing wrong. Anyone know a good way to get connected? I have other devices on the router so i know it works correctly. I just cant figure out how to get arch to connect. I had used the new installer 2009.02 if that helps any.
Thanks!

Are you using NetworkManager?

Did you disable the network daemon in your /etc/rc.conf ?

If not, install wicd :

 pacman -S wicd

then open /etc/rc.conf and put a ! before network in the daemons line. Then add wicd (make sure it's after HAL and/or D-bus)

I have wicd installed on my eee 701 and I find it to be much better than NetworkManager. Let me know how that goes

Hi, I also noticed problems when trying to connect to a d-link wireless router with my 701 and a recent kernel. But connecting other routers still works. Now I use ndiswrapper instead of ath5k when I need to connect to the d-link router. Maybe your problem is the same?

Ath5k, though in spirit is a good idea, it completely rendered any atheros device useless for me.  Though it brought up the interface in both of my laptops, it never could connect or do it in a stable manner.  I had to blacklist it and use ndiswrapper.

Ath5k + wicd is working really well with the latest kernel (2.6.30 at the time of writing).
