My screen resolution is the same as it was in my ubuntu install, and I have my graphics driver set up correctly, so why does everything appear huge? It looks like I'm using a much smaller resolution than I'm actually using.

change dpi value? font sizes? (settings -> appearance -> fonts)

So which one is it? Are you using the "same" resolution as in Ubuntu -- or do you think you are using a smaller resolution. Try and increase the resolution to see if it fixes it.

geckoguykc, just have a look at the appearance-settings and lower the value of "dpi"

Not to be the one smartass, but I have to... If everything in gnome is too big, get rid of gnome! I got tired of the bloat and switched to Awesome
I have openbox now, but I cannot get awesome to work properly :S I love your config also!
