alsa permission problem

Hello,

I recently installed arch on my t500 laptop and have a small alsa problem. I installed everything as documented in the wiki, but when i try to set the volume amixer tells me:

amixer set PCM 75 unmute
amixer: Unable to find simple control 'PCM',0

Additionally xfce4-mixer plugin tells me:

GStreamer was unable to detect any sound devices. Some sound system specific GStreamer packages may be missing. It may also be a permissions problem.

and it does not work at all!
I am member of the audio group of course. The funny thing is: I have sound on youtube etc. smile Any ideas?
Regards,
teal

Re: alsa permission problem

Try

Re: alsa permission problem

I got the error, a gstreamer-plugin was missing, after the pacman -S i could activate the controles in xfce4-mixer-plugin. Everything works now, thanks!
