Unable to get Compiz Fusion working...

I'm aware this isn't a new issue, but the Wiki has so far been unable to solve my queries.

I've just freshly installed Arch on my new PC: Pentium-D 3.8Ghz, 2Gb of RAM and an ATi Radeon X1950 Pro (PCI-E).

I've installed Compiz Fusion as suggested via the wiki. When I run the fusion icon and activate compiz, I am left with no window borders and no working compiz. I've followed the troubleshooting section on the wiki to no avail. The problem remains.

Re: Unable to get Compiz Fusion working...

That's probably because in your xorg.conf file you have two device sections. One using a plain vga driver and another using the 'radeon' driver. Comment out the device section that uses vga completely and then try again.

Did you restart X after making the change?

Also in ccsm (settings manager from fusion icon) make sure window decoration under effects is checked.

Yes.

It is. But it's not just the window decorations. There's no effects as well. No window borders, no effects.

Yes. I also installed KDE4.2 with the KDEMod repos and the Kwin compositing works absolutely fine.

I still prefer something simpler, like Metacity. I'm not those that came to Linux for the cube.
Maybe it is a bug or something? Maybe you should play around a bit more around the settings, and see if there are full transparency on windows borders or something smile

Re: Unable to get Compiz Fusion working...

I seem to be having problems with compiz also. I am messing with the settings to see what I can come up with. No settings were check by default like there use to be.

I can't load CCSM, from either GNOME or KDE. When I attempt to do so, I get this:

Have you tried setting your system-wide locale?
