Hello,
I was stuck for few months on a Windows laptop but finally got some cash to buy one with HW linux compatible ![]()
Ok, I am able to connect to the wifi using the following manual commands:
ifconfig wlan0 up
iwconfig wlan0 essid secret
wpa_supplicant -B -Dwext -i wlan0 -c /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf
dhcpcd wlan0
but I can't manage to connect automatically using wicd ![]()
I can't see what I'm missing so any help will be more than welcome ![]()
Thanks
Ludo

Hi, I'm not sure if this is any help to you, but have you checked the wiki?

I've also been having trouble with WICD since I upgraded several packages including madwifi yesterday. The manual commands also work for me, so I changed WICD's preferences to use wext as wpa_supplicant driver instead of madwifi and its working now.
YMMV

Thanks for the responses.
Dusty, I also found out earlier today that I had to use wpa_supplicant ![]()
Anyway, it's all working fine now...
thanks
