New instal & wicd..... Can,t automate the wifi connexion using WPA...

Hello,

I was stuck for few months on a Windows laptop but finally got some cash to buy one with HW linux compatible smile

Ok, I am able to connect to the wifi using the following manual commands:

ifconfig wlan0 up
iwconfig wlan0 essid secret
wpa_supplicant -B -Dwext -i wlan0 -c /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf
dhcpcd wlan0

but I can't manage to connect automatically using wicd sad

I can't see what I'm missing so any help will be more than welcome smile

Thanks
Ludo

Hi, I'm not sure if this is any help to you, but have you checked the wiki?

I've also been having trouble with WICD since I upgraded several packages including madwifi yesterday. The manual commands also work for me, so I changed WICD's preferences to use wext as wpa_supplicant driver instead of madwifi and its working now.

YMMV
