Local network with virtual machines

Hello,

I would like to make some experiments with DHCP and gPXE. Can I set up a DHCP server in my computer and have a virtual machine connecting to it? Is it possible to do that with Virtual Box?

Thanks

Re: Local network with virtual machines

I think it's possible.

Try creating a bridge (e.g. br0), configure dhcpd on your computer to answer requests on that interface and then configure earch VM on VirtualBox to use Host interface based networking attached to br0.

Edit: My approach won't work if you try it 'as is'. Maybe you should create a VM attached to br0 to be just a DHCP server. If not, you should add your network interface (eth0?) to the bridge and that could cause you some problems (DHCP conflicts with your router, configuration issues...)
