[SOLVED]What is csup?

When I use yaourt to update, it shows me this

I investigated and the package csup has been explicitly installed

but I do not remember ever installing it. I guess its in base-devel so it must have gotten installed, but what is it used for? Also its not on AUR anymore, so I cannot find any information on it.
Does anyone know what its used for?
Also when I try to remove it, there are no dependency conflicts.

Re: [SOLVED]What is csup?

Csup used to be in the maintained repos (current/extra/community) but has been 'thrown out' so to say. ABS used to rely upon it but it works with rsync now if I am informed correctly.

B is indeed correct. csup is a C based reimplementation of cvsup (which was written in modula3 as i recall). ABS did used to use it. And now uses rsync.

Re: [SOLVED]What is csup?

Checking for orphans should fix that - I know I removed it on my system before this thread wink.
