Can't connect to desired essid

So I'm trying to get my Arch box to connect to a certain wifi thingy. I t can see it, at least according to "sudo iwlist wlan0 scan" it can.

But for some reason, when i try to connect, it says:

Error for wireless request "Set ESSID" (8B1A) :
SET failed on device wlan0 ; Invalid argument.

I can sometimes connect to the network i want, but the weird thing is, I can ALWAYS connect to the other one I have a key for (has a bandwidth cap, so I try and avoid using it.)

Re: Can't connect to desired essid

http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Wireless

It is maybe about WPA and WEP keys. Are you sure wireless is up, and what you see about wlan0 in

ifconfig

Re: Can't connect to desired essid

I told you, I can get it to connect to another network, It is only the one I want to connect to that I cannot connect to.

"sudo iwlist wlan0 scan" shows me I can see the netowrk

"sudo ifconfig wlan0 up" just in case
"sudo iwconfig wlan0 essid <NetworkNameHere> key <HexKeyHere>"

then I get the error from the first post.

whereas:

"sudo iwconfig wlan0 essid <alternateNetwork> key <HexKeyHere>" will connect just fine to that other network

Also, as I said originally, sometimes it works fine, like now for instance. I have no idea why it's so hit and miss hmm

Re: Can't connect to desired essid

It's doing it again.

It's not the hardware. I just booted up Puppy CD, used ndiswrapper again, same inf file, and it connected fine.
I have NO idea why it's doing this to me hmm
