Problem With nm-system-settings

Hi Everyone!

Details:
1) had a fresh installation
2) replaced network with networkmanager in /etc/rc.conf
3) started the environment : KDE, Gnome, XFCE,...
4) nm-applet works fine

Problem:
1) Everytime I login I have to type the keyring password for it to start working
2) I get the following annoying prompt whenever I logout:

nm-system-settings:nm_sysconfig_settings_remove_connection:a ssertion 'NM_IS_SYSCONFIG_SETTINGS(self)' failed

What's wrong with it?
Regards

Re: Problem With nm-system-settings

Hi,

about your (2) error message, I don't know, I don't get it, maybe upgrading to 0.7.1 helps.

about the (1) requirement to type your keyring password everytime, I'm having the same problem. It could be solved by nm-system-settings. This service should make a connection on boot-time. In the connection editor (right click the nm-applet icon, edit connections...) you should be able to enable a connection on boot time (enable "available to all users").

Sounds great of course, but it isn't working for me. If I click the "available to all users" option, my apply button is greyed out. I already tried editing some policy files, but it didn't help. If someone knows a solution, it would be greatly appreciated!

1. Edit your ~.xinitrc, add ck-launch session
My file looks like this:
exec ck-launch-session xfce4-session
2. edit /etc/dbus-1/system.d/nm-applet.conf and add

      <policy user="username">
                <allow own="org.freedesktop.NetworkManagerUserSettings"/>

                <allow send_destination="org.freedesktop.NetworkManagerUserSettings"/>

                <!-- Only root can get secrets -->
                <allow send_destination="org.freedesktop.NetworkManagerUserSettings"
                       send_interface="org.freedesktop.NetworkManagerSettings.Connection.Secrets"/>
        </policy>

replace username with your own
3. edit /etc/dbus-1/system.d/nm-system-settings.conf and add

       <policy user="username">
                <allow own="org.freedesktop.NetworkManagerSystemSettings"/>

                <allow send_destination="org.freedesktop.NetworkManagerSystemSettings"/>
        </policy>

replace username with your own
4. reboot and try again
