Arch or Chakra - key apps to install after?

Hi,
I want to get arch or chakra going and wanted to find out what the key apps are that I will need once I get it installed?  I know of some but wanted to see what the pro's like all of you folks suggest.  Here is what I was going to do and I don't know of the best way to install everything for my purposes "YET"!  But that is why I am here smile

1.  Base install - then add on either KDEMOD or Gnome? - my goal is nice looking but fast as well.
2.  Email - Thunderbird I think
3.  OpenOffice
4.  "Remote Desktop" client to manage remote systems
5.  Firewall
6   Rootkit detector
7  Text editor
8  Browsers - I like firefox + opera
9.  WINE (have to use a couple windows apps for work)
10.  IPHONE - not jailbroken but would like only to have a calender synch program?  Any suggestions?
11.  Flash, java, multimedia playback from the internet, CD, MP3, or things from my itunes library?

Please dont cross post. You can ask in the same thread since they are related.

If you are going to install KDE, you will get most of the apps by default. If you already know what you want to install...then its simply a matter of using pacman.
