Hi there
I kind of new to Arch - so this may be a stupid question :-)
I have a Acer Travelmate 291 (290 series).
To get the network card working I installed ipw2100, hotplug and pacman updated my kernel - everything went fine.
And I had the card working great.
But then it stopped working - on startup hotplug report:
eth1: Firmware 'ipw2100-1.2.fw' not available or load failed
eth1: ipw2100_get_firmware failed: -2
eth1: Failed to power on the adapter
eth1: Failed to start the firmware
I suspect one of two things broke it:
pacman wanted to update my kernel again - and I said yes yes go ahead. Maybe the ieee1394 is loaded as eth1 ?
I had the comp running on battery - and since I havn't installed an indicator yet - it went down (powered down) suddenly, because the battery was emty.
I have tried to rmmod ipw2100 and then modprobe ipw2100 - but iwconfig still report that no devices has wireless extensions.
I have also tried to download the firmware and install it again but nothing has worked - please help.
Thanks in advance

fixed in new package
hotplug changed directory of firmware
if you cannot wait for new package
move everything from /usr/lib/hotplug/firmware to /lib/firmware
and all should be fine
if such problems arise feel free to make a bug entry
at http://bugs.archlinux.org
then devs were informed quickly

Thanks...
I simply fixed it by downgrading the hotplug package.
I will wait for the new hotplug... then upgrade

no new hotplug will come, new ipw packages is soon available on the server then you can saely upgrade to new hotplug package :-)
