Unable to connect wirelessly

Until this morning, wireless was working fine. Now it's not, and with nothing to cause it. I haven't upgraded any packages, I haven't edited my network profiles, and I haven't changed any settings on my router - it just doesn't work. Weird, yes?

Like I said, nothing has changed at all. Thinking it was a router problem, I changed to a different router, but the problem persisted. It's not just limited to WPA either, I tried WEP and just plain unsecured wireless. Same problem for all of them. I've tried sitting right next to the router so the signal is excellent, but no joy there either. I'm at a complete loss.

2 suggestions:
1. try upping the timeout-value
2. try dhclient instead of dhcpcd

Can you connect with another pc? which chipset/driver?

/EDIT: and you're sure nobody else has gained access to your router to change the password f.e.? What's the output of wpa_supplicant?

1. Same problem (complaining about either wireless association failed or DHCP IP lease attempt failed)
2. No effect
3. No other computers in the house use wireless, but as I tried changing the router I doubt it's a problem with both of them. I'm using iwl4965. When I've had this problem before, modprobe -r iwl4965 and then modprobe iwl4965 solved the problem.

Ya know, I've been having these same issues on and off for a couple of weeks now! Trying to connect to my WPA wireless at home is like pulling teeth sometimes!! I'm also using netcfg2 and get the same cycle of 'wireless association failed' and 'network not available'. I don't have any trouble with an unencrypted network at work. This morning my download speeds have been varying between disconnected and maybe 150k (normally north of 600-800k. I use the rt73usb driver (linksys wusb54gc). Other times it works perfectly. We have a vista laptop and a wireless gaming adapter (connected to another arch desktop) that seem to have no problems on this same connection. I just don't know if it's the same problem you're having or not?!

I'm not sure as I haven't been able to test it on another network. I'm going to my dad's house tonight so I'll see if it works there.

I am now at my dads house (and have been for a couple of hours), and the wireless connection has suddenly, without apparent cause, began working again. Perhaps it will work at home too. Weird.

I'll let you know if it does.

I'm not quite sure if this is entirely correct, but it did seem to do the trick for me. Instead of

SECURITY="wpa"

in the conf file try:

SECURITY="wpa-config"
