im in the middle of installing kde4 to test it out, its a big download, about 500mb or so.
pacman is running, showing the percent of each package downloaded, which isnt really all the helpfull when downloading lots of packages in one go.
is there any way i can have a "global" download bar for pacman?
Thanks markp1989

You can't show the download bar globally, but you can show a total download time estimation. Man pacman.conf for more info.
archlinux - please read this and this — twice — then ask questions.

use powerpill... it shows global progress*:
--> progress: 8 of 12 files, 13.54 MiB of 30.48 MiB (44%), 1.02 MiB/s, ETA: 16 s
*added bonus: it downloads everything much faster
