i have tried everything and read the wikis and guides and nothing works.
i have tried installing with the core and with the other one(the latest distros)
should I give up and try another distro?
which one?
i want something advanced
or does anyone have any suggestion?
the internet works fine with live cd (or what they are called) with ubuntu
the first thing the configuring network guide says is
hwdetect --show-net
but that doesnt work
please help
just to be sure i will reinstall and follow the manual exactly right now
thanks
and this problem is directly after the install. i never have any connection after it

Mmmm... OK. Firstly, what media are you installing from ? I've only ever used
a net install, so I know not of any other method. If you can, try the 'live cd' and
select the 'ftp' install. This will automatically set up your network for you - if you
choose 'yes' when asked if you would like to use 'dhcp'. The rest of the install
is easy - especially if you have read this beforehand:
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Beginners_Guide
Hope this helps...

P.S.
The reason 'hwdetect' didn't work is that it [hwdetect] needs to be installed
first - "pacman -S hwdetect", when you're up and running.
Don't be overwhelmed by all the info in the link above, the liveCd holds your
hand thru' the process and it isn't as complex as portrayed in the Wiki !

After you install, compare the output of `ifconfig` with the same output from when you're running on a LiveCD.
If they are the same, then compare the output of `cat /etc/resolv.conf` and `route -n`
