Socket Permissions

Hi, I'm running rtgui as a frontend for rtorrent, using lighttpd as my webserver. rtgui connects to rtorrent using a socket. When rtorrent starts, it creates a file (lets say "/rpc.socket") as the user rtorrent is run by, with permissions of 755. lighttpd is running as the http user and doesn't have access to the socket, and as such doesn't work. If I manually "chmod 777 /rpc.socket" then everything works perfectly, but I don't want to have to do this every time I start rtorrent. Is there an easy way to make the socket start out with 777 permissions? I can't seem to find anything about it in the rtorrent docs. Any help would be much appreciated.
