nm-applet stopped working

nm-applet stopped working recently. It gives this terminal output and nothing further happens.

** (nm-applet:7001): WARNING **: <WARN>  applet_dbus_manager_start_service(): Could not acquire the NetworkManagerUserSettings service.
  Message: 'Connection ":1.42" is not allowed to own the service "org.freedesktop.NetworkManagerUserSettings" due to security policies in the configuration file'

anyone know what causes this?

Thanks

Re: nm-applet stopped working

Try this:
http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php? … 39#p484839

specifically, try either
1. starting your session with ck-launch-session
2. change some configuration settings in /etc/dbus-1/system.d/NetworkManager.conf and /etc/dbus-1/system.d/nm-applet.conf
