I want to move a terminal from X to a vc.

I'm not sure if that covers your expectations, but you should have a look at  screen.

With it, you can open as many shells as you like next to each other, detach screen and re-attach them in another terminal. Whether
this terminal is a vc or a terminal emulator doesn't matter.

I agree with the_isz. I'm pretty sure the only way to do this is with screen.
