static ip - dns configuration?

i had to change from dhcp to a static ip. i suppose i configured the static ip and the gateway in correct manner in rc.conf, but i don't know how to procede with my isp's dns address ...

any help would be appreciated!

you'll get a better response from somebody with more experience in this kind of thing, but here's my total knowledge on the subject: investigate '/etc/resolv.conf'

google and 'man resolv.conf' are a start. If that doesn't help, somebody else can probably give you a better pointer.

/etc/resolve.conf

##search domain.com
##this means if you were to ping the machine named "funky"
##your box would assume that funky.google.com was local to it
##read manaul for further information
search google.com

##nameserver ipaddress
##this is a list of nameservers that your machine will send dns requests to
##the order determines something...I think it is if the first can't be reached,
##the next one is tried..etc.
nameserver 123.123.123.123
nameserver 123.123.123.124
nameserver 123.123.123.125
