I'm writing a PKGBUILD for a project which declares it's licence at being the "Creative Commons GPL":
http://creativecommons.org/licenses/GPL/2.0/
As best I can tell, this is the same licence as GPLv2. So should the PKGBUILD use 'GPL2' or 'custom' as the licence?

That is not actually a license, but rather an overview of a license. I'd just put GPL...

I agree creative commons always bugged me but the link you posted is just a fancified post using the gpl as far as i can see.

Yeah, upon closer inspection, the normal GPL 'COPYING' file is distributed with the source, and it's version 2, so I'll go with GPL2. Thanks guys
