netcfg won't obtain IP

I tried following several things on the wiki but none of it has helped.
I have been using my own wifi connect script but I found out that netcfg is much easier but it has a problem. Whenever I try to use netcfg everything works fine except I never obtain an IP address. I don't get any errors and the only output says that it connected successfully. I have had several configs but this is my current /etc/network.d/Dart27 profile

CONNECTION="wireless"
INTERFACE="wlan0"
IP="dhcp"
ESSID="Dart27"
SECURITY=none
SCAN="YES"

I tried adding DHCLIENT=no to it but that didn't fix it. When I run sudo dhclient wlan0 it gets an IP. As far as I know according to the DHCLIENT line is that it is supposed to call it but doesn't for some reason. I am on an Asus EEEPC 1000he and my wireless card is 01.00.0 Network controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR928X Wireless Network Adapter (PCI-Express) (rev 01)
